Carved leaf pendants

Here are some newer versions of the wooden leaf pendants I blogged about a little while ago.
It’s been a very very very long time since I’ve posted, and I’m sorry! I’ll really try to post more now that I’m free from school for about 18 months! Longest summer holiday ever. I’m so happy to not be going back anytime soon, even though I’ll miss it. Also, I was in Portugal for ten days, so I couldn’t exactly post when I was there, seeing as I was in a house/tent in a rural mountain valley with no internet. It was lovely.
I’m making a lot of these, with maybe the intention of setting up an Etsy to sell them? I just don’t know if anyone would be interested. Would any of you guys be interested? They probably wouldn’t be over €15 so not exactly bank breaking. The backs can also have a custom design on them 🙂
Here’s some I’ve made lately (back and front).

This place is so incredible, like seriously beautiful. I was there all day today.
To those who know it, you might not think it’s too great. A nice river, some big trees…
Have you ever gone further, though?

We went out foraging, me my parents and our dog. We’d been there before around the same time last year but we had only gone around the main loop. But up a little path up the valley, a whole new world opened up. I’ve never seen so many old, deciduous trees in Ireland before. It was so pretty, and the river was shining blue and argh. It was so perfect. The ground was all mossy and there were mushrooms everywhere.
But enough of me. Here’s some photos.

Mint chocolate birthday cake

I made this for my grandmother as it was her birthday. I multiplied my brownie recipe by 1.5 and then put it in two cake pans.
I used pre-made fondant to make the roses and the leaves, and I made the buttercream icing from scratch (with an element of failure, notice the ‘chocolate chips’? That was because the icing was too hard to spread and it picked up bits of the cake. then my dad magically thought of using a hairdryer to melt the icing a little. It worked a treat, and then I added green food colouring (too much, of course) to disguise the brown-ness)
Overall it was not too challenging, and only took about 3 hours overall (including baking times)
